Eric Lawton
is a fine art photographer, writer and visual artist who has traveled and
photographed throughout the world.
Lawton's
photographs have been exhibited in the United States and Europe, including
Christie's in Beverly Hills, Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa Monica,
the Louis Stern Gallery in West Hollywood, Photo LA: the International
Photographic Print Exposition in Santa Monica, California and the Stockholm
Art Exposition in Sweden. His art is
in numerous private, corporate and public collections including the Skirball Museum in Los Angeles, the International Museum of Photography, the New York Public Library and the Bibliotheque
Nationale in Paris. In 2001
he received a Certificate of Tribute from the City of Los Angeles for his
body of work, presented by Mayor Richard Riordan at the opening of his solo
exhibition, Photographs from Earth, which was on view for six months
at Los Angeles City Hall.
Lawton's
photographic assignments have included The White House, The New York
Times Magazine, Fortune and Conde Nast Traveler. His works have been published
worldwide, including Communication Arts, Fortune, The New York Times
Magazine, Artweek, American Photo, Popular
Photography, Sierra, Smithsonian, Time, Newsweek, Travel & Leisure,
Business Week, U.S. News & World Report, United Airlines Magazine,

advertising clients include Citigroup, Motorola, Mazda, Prudential
Investments and Princess Cruises.
His photographs have been commissioned for worldwide advertising
campaigns and Annual Reports including Citigroup, Motorola and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Lawton's multimedia theatrical work has included projects as diverse as
photographic montages with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the
Hollywood Bowl, improvisational visual performances with poet Phil Cousineau and The Doors' John Densmore, and visual
montages with the Hae Kyung Lee Dance Company at the Japan America Theater
in Los Angeles. He was commissioned to photograph and produced visual
multimedia theatrical performances at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center and the Wadsworth Theater in Los Angeles. Lawton served on the Cultural and Fine Arts Advisory
Commission for the Los Angeles Olympic Arts Festival.
His
nonfiction short stories have been published in books and
anthologies. In March 2003 an excerpt from one of Lawton’s writings was quoted by actress Susan Sarandon
during the televised presentation of the 75th Annual Academy Awards.
Lawton's
books of photographs include The Soul of The World (HarperCollins -
third printing) and The Soul Aflame (Conari
Press). His latest book, Nishmat Tzedek, A Righteous Soul, was released in
2003. He is listed in Who's Who in America and is the
recipient of numerous awards, including Advertising Photographers of
America, American Photo and Communication Arts' Award of Excellence.
